KAARMIC specialises in Education services for underprivileged communities. We are currently spearheading our flagship Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Rural Education Fellowship in the state of Telangana. This ambitious fellowship aims to rectify the failing archaic public education system by teaching students the “Framework of Learning” and thereby enabling them to become autodidacts. We have created a unique curriculum for our fellows to hand hold them until they are able to create their own sustainable, self- directed learning practices.

  • THE CRISIS - THE DEATH OF CURIOSITY

    INDICATORS OF A FAILING SYSTEM

    1

    BEHIND LEARNING OUTCOMES

An average student is behind by at least 3 grade levels in terms of defined standards and gap can increase up to 5 grade levels by the end of High School.

    2

    LACKING TEACHERS

Over 900,000 Teacher vacancies unfulfilled and even after allowances made to accommodate under-skilled candidates.

    3

    STUDENT DROP OUTS

76% of students dropping out of Higher Education courses and 48% drop outs in High School. Uninspiring enforced learning has left students loosing faith in the system.

    4

    Unemployment & Under-employment

International Labor Organisation's report states that India has 13.6 Million Unemployed in the Country and around 50 Million Under-employed. Educated Individuals are unable to unlearn & relearn more advanced hard skills without comprehensive hand holding..

  • What did we Narrow the above problems to?

    The Problem Statement

    broken image

"Our Archaic Teaching-Learning Methodology is making low-income community students over-dependent on Instructor/Teacher led education model and have made them Non-Proactive Dependent Learners."

  • How we plan to change this?

    Our Approach

  • OUR APPROACH

THE SUSTAINABLE FORM OF PUBLIC EDUCATION

    broken image

    ROLE 1:

    CREATING SELF DIRECTED LEARNERS

Helping Students Master the "Process of Learning" & become "Independent Conscious Learners" - The Why, How and What.

In an age where technology is evolving faster than we can react to it, we need a more dynamic and evolving method for learning as well.

Instead of training students on specific hard & soft skills, which may even become irrelevant by the time they reach the job market, we focus on training students on the process of "Self Directed Learning".

We work to make Super Learners in the Schools catering to the discriminated communities of India, so they can stay in charge of their own learning and destiny.

    ROLE 2:

    CREATING A SUSTAINABLE PUBLIC SCHOOL

Driving School Wide Adoption of Independent Student Learning Practices for Long Term Systemic Impact.

No Change is Valuable, unless it is focused on the long term sustainability. We not only focus our efforts on creating Super Learners within a Public School Ecosystem, but also make sure that the ecosystem is supportive and adopts the practices completely.

We focus on High Schoolers & Middle Schoolers, as it ensures long term impact on school system. The Seniors help induct the juniors and eventually becomes the cultural norm of the school.

    BE A HAPPY LEARNING ACTIVIST

Changing the lives of Students in a way that is impactful for their Future.

Our Teaching Fellows are trained to deliver our Self Directed Learning curriculum and hand hold the students to become self sufficient in managing their self directed learning practice over a period of 6 month - 1 year at the Government Residential School. Students are expected to take charge and exhibit autonomy for their Academic & Personal Development Learning goals.

By the end of the Fellowship, we expect Fellows to gain the School ecosystem's buy-in through various independent initiative to create better learners, which in turn should improve the school's overall Academic and Personality quotient. The Fellow is also responsible to work with the Management and create a long term adoption strategy and execution plan.
